As a first generation Mexican-American, it taught her how to adapt and navigate between two different cultures. She had to find her own identity and a form of expression. For example, in her photography series Las Divas De La Noche, Alma Lucia explores queer culture through her environmental portraits which highlight the lives of Drag artists. She aspires her work to be healing, giving people a voice, sharing untold stories and connecting with others who’ve been through similar situations. Her medium of photography dives through generational trauma, sharing light on the struggles of vulnerability within her work and aiming to invoke an emotion. Her work comes off as authentic, bold and having a sense of dignity.
